Tutorial: Beginner's Guide To Painting
Occasionally, I love seeing with my routine Games Workshop shop to do my painting, to commune, to see other people’s works. It still astounds me that so a lot of people rate my painting so tremendously, with many people saying that I am a “master” and some even saying I should enter Golden Demon. Personally, I do not completely agree with either statement entirely. Do Not get me wrong, I am extremely flattered by such compliments, but the truth is that my first steps in the avocation are just as modest as many others (see the image to the left), and the techniques I use aren’t especially difficult to learn or apply. You see, I truly believe that painting that is great is not the art of making a technique that is complex seem easy, but instead making a technique that is straightforward seem complex. In the past, I’ve passed on the following rules to recall to individuals who have requested me for painting guidance and their painting skills enhanced virtually overnight. Eventually, I’ve gotten around to publishing these ideas on my blog. Please note, all these aren’t suggestions for the professional amongst you, there’s no “First Source Light” or “Vector Shading” techniques here, but just easy items to bear in mind that will make versions look 100 times better.
KEEP IT TIDY!
This might well appear to be an obvious thing to say, for making your model seem fantastic, but awesome paintwork is an absolute must. Such an easy trick this is the difference between a model looking great and a model appearing awful. The way I describe it to folks is thinking of miniature painting service as “Advanced Coloring In”. Keep your paints inside the lines, keep the colors sharp.
Shoot the preceding image. All these are two versions I painted in two completely different points in time. Both use the same colors and techniques that are similar, except the model on the right had great care required to keep inside the lines. As it is possible to view, there’s a huge difference in the grade of the paintwork. As it is possible to view just taking care to clean up errors and neaten up your cleaning may make a world of difference.
